Ms. Nikolina Budimlija presents this lecture on Rheumatoid Arthritis and the hidden impact this can have on a patient’s ocular surface. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease characterised by a symmetrical and destructive joint inflammation. This webinar will discuss the the systemic signs of Rheumatoid arthritis and how to manage patients’ related ocular surface issues and inflammation. Ms Nikolina Budimlija will discuss the ocular effects of RA including ocular surface issues and inflammation. She will also outline the systemic signs of RA. Her presentation will help eyecare professionals understand RA as a systemic disease and how to manage its ophthalmic impact on patients.

About The Speaker

Ms. Nikolina Budimlija graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2005 and later earned a Master’s in health management. She was a Fellow of the European Masters Program in Health Promotion. Ms. Budimlija trained in ophthalmic surgery at the Clinical Hospital Centre, Sestre Milosrdnice Zagreb.

Having initiated Ireland’s first dedicated Ocular Surface Disease clinic at IOES, Nikolina is now a devoted expert in Ocular Surface Diseases and member of the prestigious Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society. She is skilled oculoplastic surgeon, well known for her blepharoplasty procedures.

With nearly 20 years of experience in ophthalmology, Nikolina is an active member of several eye health organisations European Society of Cornea & Ocular Surface Disease Specialists (EuCornea), Irish College of Ophthalmologists, Croatian Ophthalmological Society, and the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). Nikolina has developed a very successful intense pulsed light service by utilising one of the best systems available at IOES.
